ChemInform Abstract

Cyclocarbonylation reactions of the enediynes (I) and (VII), promoted by pentacarbonyliron, proceed selectively on the diyne, resulting in the formation of the cyclopentadienone-iron tricarbonyl complexes (IV) and (IX), without competing enyne cyclocarbonylation. Demetalation is achieved with Me3NO in DMA and occurs with migration of one double bond, and desilylation in the cases of (IVb) and (IXb).
