ChemInform Abstract

LnNi5 (Ln: La, Ce, Pr, Nd) powders are prepared from the corresponding oxide and Ni by a diffusion process in the temp. range 1123-1323 K using Ca as reductant. XRD and SEM results indicate that the formation of LnNi5 compounds proceeds via an indirect substitution reaction CaxNiy + Ln = LnxNiy + Ca, which results in an increased formation rate.
