ChemInform Abstract

The title compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2/c with Z = 2 (single crystal XRD). The structure of SrCu(OH)4×H2O contains isolated square-planar (Cu(OH)4)2- units hydrogen bonded to H2O molecules and separated by Sr2+ ions. The presence of discrete ( Cu(OH)4)2- groups is further confirmed by ESR, IR, and UV/VIS spectroscopy. The fact that the Cu(OH)4 units are not crosslinked to CuO2 layers is explained by their relative orientation.
