ChemInform Abstract

Stereocontrolled addition of 2-lithiofuran (III), a masked carboxylate group, to the N-benzyl nitrone derived from the ribofuranoside (I) is the key step in an expeditious total synthesis of the title compound ( XII). Polyoxins are potent competitive inhibitors of Candiada albicans chitin synthetase.
