ChemInform Abstract

A general one-pot method for the synthesis of pyranobenzazoles, e.g. ( III), (VI), (VIII) and (X), involves regiospecific addition of aldehyde (II) to an in situ generated heterocyclic titanium phenolate and subsequent intramolecular cyclization. In case of (Id) a side reaction yields by-product (IV).
