ChemInform Abstract

B-site Cu substituents, LaMn1-xCuxO3 (x = 0 to 0.8), of the perovskite- type mixed ABO3 oxide, LaMnO3, are prepared by various method. Their catalytic activity for the title reactions increases with increase of Cu up to x ≅0.5 and decrease at higher x values. The increase of the catalytic activity is attributed to an increase of surface excess oxygen, of the specific surface area and of the Mn4+ content and a decrease of the pore size by the replacement. The conductivity also increases with substitution of Cu2+ for Mn3+.
