ChemInform Abstract

The effects of various liquid-phase sintering aids (SiO2, excess TiO2, excess PbO, Al2O3-SiO2-TiO2 mixtures) on the microstructure and electric properties of (Pb0.6Sr0.4)TiO3 ceramics are studied. Among these sintering aids only SiO2 exhibits a pronounced effect on the grain growth and the positive temp. coefficient of resistivity (PTCR). A prominent V-shaped electrical behavior with a PTCR jump of ≅ 102.9 is observed for a sample containing 5 mol% SiO2 after sintering at 1220 °C for 30 min and cooling at a rate of 300 °C/h.
