ChemInform Abstract
The title compound is prepared in the pyranose form (V) by an improved method with enhanced yield. Attempts to prepare the corresponding furanose (IX) by an analogous synthesis are unsuccesful. An alternative route is presented. The precursor (VI) is obtained in a multi-step procedure from D-glucose.
