While treatment of the thiopene (III) with primary amines such as (IV) leads to the formation of the thieno(3,2-d)pyrimidines (V), with ammonia the thieno(3,4-d)pyrimidines (VI) are obtained. Some of the compounds synthesized show antiallergic effects.
