ChemInform Abstract

Single crystals of the novel mixed alkali-alkaline earth metal oxoplatinate Sr3.67Na0.33PtO6 are prepared by reaction of an intimate mixture of Na2O2 and SrO2 with Pt at 800 °C in a sealed Ag tube in Ar atmosphere. According to the XRD data, the compound crystallizes in the trigonal space group R3c with Z = 6 of the Sr4PtO6 structure type. The structure consists of 1 ∞(-PtO6-(Na/Sr)O6-) chains running along (001) which are connected by Sr to form a three- dimensional framework. A comparison to the structures of Sr3CuPtO6 and Ca3.5Cu0.5PtO6 is presented.
