ChemInform Abstract

Heating of vinyl acetate (I) in the presence of Wilkinson′s catalyst produces ethylidene diacetate (II) or acetylene (III) and acetic acid ( IV) depending on the reaction temperature. If the catalyst is subjected to an activation at 200°C prior to the reaction, benzene and acetic acid are obtained from (I) at 150°C after 8h or (II) and acetophenone at 150°C after 12h.
