ChemInform Abstract

During the reactions of the anticancer drug “carboplatin” (I) with chloride, phosphate and/or 5′-guanosine monophosphate in aqueous solution at 310 K a ring-opened species containing a monodentate cyclobutanedicarboxylic acid ligand is observed which is relatively stable in all cases and could play a role in the pharmacology of carboplatin. A structure for the product (II) from the nucleic acid is proposed.
