ChemInform Abstract

By single crystal studies of β-CsReO4 the orthorhombic space group Pnma, Z = 4 is confirmed. The structure, refined to R = 0.027, Rw = 0.023 for 779 absorption-corrected reflections, is built-up from isolated ReO4 tetrahedra which are linked together by Cs ions. Cs is 10-fold coordinated by O with an average Cs-O distance of 3.262 Å. β-CsReO4, which is isomorphous with CsTcO4 and RbOsO3N, represents an orthorhombic distortion of the tetragonal high-temp. phase α-CsReO4.
