ChemInform Abstract

The synthesis of a range of new silylated organo-phosphorus esters such as (IV) containing a homochiral oxazaphospholane ring derived from (-)-ephedrine (I) is described. The esters (IV) react with benzaldehyde (V) to produce the phosphonic acid derivatives (VI) with good stereoselectivity (up to 95% isomeric purity after recrystallization; the major isomer shown in the reaction scheme is deduced from NMR analysis).
