ChemInform Abstract

The title compound has excellent ion exchanging properties specific to Na+ and Ag+ at room temperature. Bulk microporous LiTi2(PO4)3 ceramics are prepared using for the first time controlled crystallization of glasses in the pseudobinary LiTi2(PO4)3-Ca3(PO4)2 (1:1) system and subsequent leaching with acids. The porous ceramics obtained have a pore diameter of 60 nm, a porosity of 45 vol.% and a specific surface area of 30 m2/g. LiTi2(PO4)3 is isostructural with NaZr2(PO4)3. The cation exchanging properties of the ceramic are due to the high mobility of Li+ ions in its grain bulk.
