ChemInform Abstract

The stereoisomeric benzodioxanes (VI) and (IX) and a series of analogues (7 examples) with 2βH,3βH configuration are synthesized as model compounds in order to establish the hitherto unknown absolute configuration at C-2′ and C-3′ of (-)-silandrin (I). Interpretation of CD spectra allows the assignment of (2S,2′R,3′R) configuration of the antihepatotoxic (I).
