The recently applied sequence to carbocyclic ring-expanded products leads in the heterocycle series to internal alkylation products. However, using the selenide (II) as alkylation reagent the selenides thus obtained yield readily the desired products (IV), (VII), (IX) and (XI) under free radical conditions A).
