ChemInform Abstract

Following a new procedure, the amidrazones (II) or (V) react with the cyanoacetate (I) in boiling DMSO to give the cyclized products (III) or (VI), whereas in ethanolic solution the pyridines (IV) or (VII) are obtained. Thermal ring closure of the latter likewise leads to the resp. triazolopyridines.
