ChemInform Abstract

Studies of the effects of oxidation and reduction processes on the surface of an aluminum electrode using in situ STM show that the initiation of the oxide formation begins in form of patches, which fuse together at longer times or at more positive potentials. A passive-active region is detected at -1.05 V vs. SHE in 0.01 M NaOH.
