The bis(dialkylamino)difluoromethanes (I) react with tris( trimethylsilyl)phosphine (II) to form the P- trimethylsilylphosphaalkenes (III) which are desilylated upon treatment with sec-butanol. Coupling of (IIIa) with the phosphinous chloride (V) produces the diphosphine (VI).
