The aldehyde (VII), prepared from the silyl ether (I) as shown in the reaction scheme, is coupled with the unsaturated amines (VIII) or (XI) to form the enamines (IX) or (XII). Subsequent free radical cyclization yields the tetracyclic amines (X) or (XIII).
