Abstract
The biological activity of the title compounds, e.g. (IX), (XI) and (XVI), confirms that a phenolic -OH group (present in (XI)) is required for potent analgetic activity.

The biological activity of the title compounds, e.g. (IX), (XI) and (XVI), confirms that a phenolic -OH group (present in (XI)) is required for potent analgetic activity. (XI) is synthesized by a procedure which is similar to that described for the transformation of compound (V) to (IX).
