ChemInform Abstract

The structure of the platinathietane-3-oxide complexes (IV), prepared as shown, is confirmed by the X-ray analysis of the title complex (IVa) (space group P1, Z=2). Further characterization occurs by NMR spectroscopy. Starting with the dimeric Pt(II) complex (V) the similar reaction with AsPh3 (VI) and (III) affords the analogous mixed-ligand complex as a mixture of the two isomers (VII) and (VIII). (VII) is the major isomer (yield 76%, NMR) but the isolated product contains the same ratio of both isomers. Only (VII) can be isolated in pure form (12%).
