Abstract

The formation of the closo-metallatelluraboranes (III) and (V) on the usual route shown in the scheme is confirmed by the X-ray analysis of (III) (space group P212121, Z=4) and (Va) (C2/m, Z=4).

ChemInform Abstract

The formation of the closo-metallatelluraboranes (III) and (V) on the usual route shown in the scheme is confirmed by the X-ray analysis of (III) (space group P212121, Z=4) and (Va) (C2/m, Z=4). However, when the reaction between (IVa) and the nido-anion of (I) is performed in ethanol instead of CH2Cl2, THF or benzene, the ten-vertex nido reaction product (VII) is obtained, which is formed by the excission of the tellurium atom from the telluraborane reagent (I). This is the first reaction to be observed in this type of system.
