ChemInform Abstract: Reactions of Ruthenium(II)-Coordinated Phenyl Phosphines: Synthesis and X-Ray Crystal Structures of the Orthometalated Complexes Cyclic (Ru(C6H4PR1R2)(CH2SiMe3)(η6-C6Me6)) (R1 = R2: Ph; R1: Ph, R2: Me; R1 = R2: Me) and of ((Ru(CH2SiMe3)2(.mu±sigma.,η6-PMe2Ph))2) Containing Bridging Dimethylphenylphosphine Ligands.
Abstract
The dichloro(tert.-phosphine)(η6-benzene)-Ru(II) compounds (I) and (IV) react with an excess of the silylmethyl-Mg compound (II) followed by hydrolysis to give the corresponding orthometalated complexes (III) (space group P21/c, Z=4) as well as (V) (P21/a, Z=4) and (VI) (P1, Z=2).
ChemInform Abstract
The dichloro(tert.-phosphine)(η6-benzene)-Ru(II) compounds (I) and (IV) react with an excess of the silylmethyl-Mg compound (II) followed by hydrolysis to give the corresponding orthometalated complexes (III) (space group P21/c, Z=4) as well as (V) (P21/a, Z=4) and (VI) (P1, Z=2). However, the similar alkylation of the phenyldimethylphosphine analogue affords in addition to the orthometalated product (VIII) (yields 5%; P1, Z=4) the dimeric dialkyl derivative (VII) (20%; C2/c, Z = 8) and the chloroalkyl complex (IX). The formation of the orthometalated compounds is discussed.
