Abstract

The coumarinyl isocyanate (IV), prepared by reaction of the ester (I) with hydrazine hydrate (II) and subsequent diazotization and Curtius rearrangement of the hydrazide (III), is coupled with fourteen alcohols such as (V) to produce the corresponding urethanes (VI).

ChemInform Abstract

The coumarinyl isocyanate (IV), prepared by reaction of the ester (I) with hydrazine hydrate (II) and subsequent diazotization and Curtius rearrangement of the hydrazide (III), is coupled with fourteen alcohols such as (V) to produce the corresponding urethanes (VI). The isocyanate (IV) is used as fluorescent derivatization reagent for alcohols in HPLC.
