Abstract

Two routes to perhalogenated thiirenes such as (III), (VI), and (IX) are presented: The first method consists in denitrogenation of the diazoalkane (I) and addition of the carbenoid to thiocarbonyl compounds, e.g. (II).

ChemInform Abstract

Two routes to perhalogenated thiirenes such as (III), (VI), and (IX) are presented: The first method consists in denitrogenation of the diazoalkane (I) and addition of the carbenoid to thiocarbonyl compounds, e.g. (II). The second method involves oxidation of 1,3-thietane such as (IV) and (VII), forming the corresponding 1,1-dioxides, (V) and (VIII), and subsequent thermal extrusion of SO2.
