Abstract

The fundamental differences in bonding between boron hydrides and hydrocarbons are illustrated by energetic results from MO calculations.

The fundamental differences in bonding between boron hydrides and hydrocarbons are illustrated by energetic results from MO calculations. Combining the results for boranes with an extension of Lipscomb's topological approach yields a procedure for constructing potentially stable boranes and understanding their bonding characteristics.
