Abstract

A new tetradentate ligand (III) is prepared which forms the five-coordinate title complexes (V), (VII) or (IX) (no yield given) as shown by electronic spectroscopy and FAB mass spectrometry.

ChemInform Abstract

A new tetradentate ligand (III) is prepared which forms the five-coordinate title complexes (V), (VII) or (IX) (no yield given) as shown by electronic spectroscopy and FAB mass spectrometry. The complexes are tested for their reactivity towards the oxidation of catechol to quinone spectrophotometrically. The complexes show differing rates of reaction depending on the nature of the exogenous fifth ligand.
