Abstract

The novel μ-dichlorogermylene complex (III) is formed on treatment of the substitutionally labile, photochemically generated Mn complex (I) with the GeCl2 adduct (II) in a molar ratio of 2:1.

ChemInform Abstract

The novel μ-dichlorogermylene complex (III) is formed on treatment of the substitutionally labile, photochemically generated Mn complex (I) with the GeCl2 adduct (II) in a molar ratio of 2:1. The structure of (III) (space group P1, Z=2) is established by X-ray analysis. Reductive dehalogenation of (III) by zinc dust in the presence of further (I) represents a stepwise synthesis of the known Ge complex (IV) which is also accessible starting with (I) in a one-pot synthesis.
