Abstract

The reaction of the monoanion of the nido-carborane (I) with PbCl2 (II) yields the novel plumbacarborane (III) which is characterized by an X-ray structure analysis (space group P1, Z=2).

ChemInform Abstract

The reaction of the monoanion of the nido-carborane (I) with PbCl2 (II) yields the novel plumbacarborane (III) which is characterized by an X-ray structure analysis (space group P1, Z=2). This closo-plumbacarborane, crystallized in dry benzene, consists of an extended chain network of molecular dimers that are layered sym. on top of each other along with benzene molecules of crystallization.
