The title complexes (III) and (IV) are synthesized by base-catalyzed hydrolysis depending on the stoichiometry.

ChemInform Abstract

The title complexes (III) and (IV) are synthesized by base-catalyzed hydrolysis depending on the stoichiometry. Conversion of the chloride-bridged compounds (III) into the μ3-OH analogues (IV) proceeds in greater than 65% yield. The structure of the Zr compound (IVa), directly synthesized from (Ia) and 2 equiv. H2O in the presence of 2 equiv. NEt3 in 65% yield, is determined by X-ray analysis (space group Pbca, Z = 8).
