Abstract

Heating of the 2,4-dithiobiurets (I) with ethyl bromide (II) in ethanol leads to the formation of the S-ethylisodithiobiuret hydrobromides (III) which are converted into the diimino-1,2,4-dithiazolidines (IV) upon prolonged refluxing in the presence of air.

ChemInform Abstract

Heating of the 2,4-dithiobiurets (I) with ethyl bromide (II) in ethanol leads to the formation of the S-ethylisodithiobiuret hydrobromides (III) which are converted into the diimino-1,2,4-dithiazolidines (IV) upon prolonged refluxing in the presence of air. The analogous reaction is observed, when the compounds (I) are heated with isopropyl bromide in isopropanol. (Mechanism).
