Abstract

In contrast to previous communications, treatment of the nitrodiazoacetate (I) with trifluoroacetic acid yields the diazoacetic acid (II) which decarboxylates, yielding nitrodiazomethane (III).

ChemInform Abstract

In contrast to previous communications, treatment of the nitrodiazoacetate (I) with trifluoroacetic acid yields the diazoacetic acid (II) which decarboxylates, yielding nitrodiazomethane (III). The rate for the conversion of (II) into (III) increases with the polarity of the solvent.
