Abstract
The in situ XRD technique is improved for accepting samples with low crystallinity and applied to the study of hydride formation in Pd and Pd-Au alloy foils and amorphous Pd-Zr electrodes.
ChemInform Abstract
The in situ XRD technique is improved for accepting samples with low crystallinity and applied to the study of hydride formation in Pd and Pd-Au alloy foils and amorphous Pd-Zr electrodes. The α- to β-PdHx transformation is found to occur by formation of a β-phase domain in the bulk of the Pd foil during cathodization. In the Pd70Au30 alloy and the amorphous Pd35Zr65 alloy, this α- to β-transformation is not observed. No crystallization in the amorphous Pd-Zr alloy ribbon electrode is detected after hydrogen charging.
