Abstract

The 1,2-dicarbonyl compounds (I) and (IV) react with 1 equivalent 1,5-diaminotetrazole (II) to give the tetrazolotriazines (III), (V), and (VI).

ChemInform Abstract

The 1,2-dicarbonyl compounds (I) and (IV) react with 1 equivalent 1,5-diaminotetrazole (II) to give the tetrazolotriazines (III), (V), and (VI). When 2 equivalents of (II) are employed, the diimine (VII) is obtained which is also prepared from (IIIa) and (II). Catalytic hydrogenation of (III) yields the dihydro derivatives (VIII), whereas reduction with sodium borohydride produces the tetrahydro derivatives (IX). Further reactions in this series are described in the original paper.
