Abstract
The mesoionic heterocycles (IV) are prepared from the pyrido(3,2-b)benzothiazines (I) and chloroacetic acid anhydride (II).

The mesoionic heterocycles (IV) are prepared from the pyrido(3,2-b)benzothiazines (I) and chloroacetic acid anhydride (II). Hydrolysis of (IV) gives the inner salts (V). Treatment of (IV) with piperidine (VI) produces the piperidino compounds (VII).
