ChemInform Abstract

The reactions of (IV) with the fluorocarbon acid (II) yield the cationic, binuclear compound (V). Reaction of (VIa) with (II) at 20 °C gives the π-arene complex (X), whereas the Os analogue (VIb) provides (VII) (P1, Z=2) in which a molecular hydrogen ligand has been characterized by its 1H spin-lattice relaxation time. Elimination of acetic acid and formation of (IX) occurs on reaction with acetonitrile.
