Abstract

The complexes (I) and (II) are prepared by published methods.

ChemInform Abstract

The complexes (I) and (II) are prepared by published methods. On addition of Na methanolate to (IIb) in dry deoxygenated MeOH the tetranuclear complex (III) is obtained. In (II) infinite chains are formed by bridging acetato groups, (IIb) is characterized by a crystal structure analysis (P1, Z=2). The high-spin Mn(II) ions exhibit a very weak intramolecular ferromagnetic exchange interaction in (I) and a weak antiferromagnetic interaction in (II). In (III) the antiferromagnetic exchange interactions are stronger than those usually reported for Mn(II). (II) and (III) are the first antiferromagnetic exchange-coupled Mn(II) complexes including Robson-type ligands (no yields given).
