ChemInform Abstract

Meldrum's acid (II) is coupled with the DMF acetal (III) to give the enamine (I) or the salt (IVa) depending on the solvent used. Treatment of (I) with benzylamine (V) forms the benzylaminomethylenedioxane (VI) which is also obtained from (IVa) and (V) in the presence of acetic acid.
