ChemInform Abstract: Monosubstituted Furoxans in the Adamantane Series and Their Properties.

ChemInform Abstract

Oxidation of the adamantylglyoximes (I) with nitric acid gives the furoxans (II). The nitric acid ester (III) is prepared from (IIa) and excess nitric acid. Oxidation of (Ia) with potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) forms the nitrile oxide (IV) which cyclizes upon heating to yield the oxadiazolone (V). This is also obtained from (IIa) on thermal isomerization.
