Abstract

Methylidenephosphine (III) is prepared by thermolysis of chloromethylphosphine (II), obtained from (I) or (IV).

ChemInform Abstract

Methylidenephosphine (III) is prepared by thermolysis of chloromethylphosphine (II), obtained from (I) or (IV). (III) reacts with methyl mercaptan (V), water, or dimethylbutadiene (VIII) to form the adducts (VI), (VII), or (IX). The cycloadduct (IX) is oxidized, yielding the phosphine oxide (X).
