Abstract

Reaction of phenylsulfenyl and phenylselenenyl chloride (II) with the exo-hydroxy-7-oxabicycloheptene (I) gives the adducts (III).

ChemInform Abstract

Reaction of phenylsulfenyl and phenylselenenyl chloride (II) with the exo-hydroxy-7-oxabicycloheptene (I) gives the adducts (III). The isomeric alcohol (IV) is coupled with the selenenyl chloride (IIb) to give the analogous product (VI). But (IV) and the sulfinyl chloride (IIa) form the cyclic ether (V).
