Abstract

Tetrathiofulvalene (I) is treated consecutively with LDA, selenium powder and the alkyl halides (II), yielding the tetrakis(alkylseleno) derivatives (III).

ChemInform Abstract

Tetrathiofulvalene (I) is treated consecutively with LDA, selenium powder and the alkyl halides (II), yielding the tetrakis(alkylseleno) derivatives (III). A similar reaction of (I) with LDA and diphenyl disulfide or diselenide (IV) gives the tetrakis(phenylchalcogeno) derivatives (V).
