ChemInform Abstract

The reaction of NaPHPh (I) with CH2X2 (II) in THF affords the title compound (III) along with the compounds (IV)-(VI). (III) may be obtained in a facile one-step synthesis with yields up to 70% by reaction of PH2Ph (VI) with CH2Cl2 (IIa) and KOH in DMSO/H2O or DMF/H2O as shown. The formation of (V) and (IV) may be explained by a reaction scheme including PhP=CH2 and HPhP-CH2Cl as reactive intermediates. The reactions between PhPHM (M: Na, K) and (IIa) or (IIb), resp., are studied by independent experiments.
