ChemInform Abstract

The synthesis of the title compounds is carried out in order to obtain models for the inactivation products of cytochrome P-450 in the presence of 1-aminobenzotriazole. Treatment of the substituted cobalt porphyrins (Ia)-(Ic) with amine cation radicals as oxidizing agents results in migration of the substituent followed by demetalation and bridge formation to give the title compounds (IIIa)-(IIIc)and - after DDQ oxidation - (IIId); the X-ray structure of (IIIa) (space group P1, Z=1) is reported. Similarly, oxidation of the N-substituted cobalt porphyrins (IV) gives the phenyl-bridged porphyrins (IIIe) and (IIIf); the former is also obtained from (Id) by a one step biomimetic bridging reaction.
