Abstract
Mercaptolysis of (I) under standard conditions or in the presence of ZnCl2/CaCl2 affords the mesogenic dithioacetals (III).

Mercaptolysis of (I) under standard conditions or in the presence of ZnCl2/CaCl2 affords the mesogenic dithioacetals (III). The mesogens (IV) and (V) are prepared similarly. The phase transition parameters are reported.
