The acetate ligands in Rh₂(O-Ac)2(PPh2C6H4)2 (or Rh₂(O-Ac)4) can be labilized by Me₃SiCl. The reaction proceeds in THF under reflux and yields the title complex (I), which crystallizes in the space group P2₁/c with Z=4. A cyclic voltammogram shows a one-electron oxidation to the Rh(II)/Rh(III) complex. This behavior is typically of binuclear Rh(II) complexes.
