Abstract

The reaction of the binucleating α-diimine (I) with the Cu complex (II) yields a binuclear diamagnetic complex, which on electrochemical as well as on chemical one-electron reduction leads to the paramagnetic Cu(I) dimer (IIIa) with an anion radical ligand.

ChemInform Abstract

The reaction of the binucleating α-diimine (I) with the Cu complex (II) yields a binuclear diamagnetic complex, which on electrochemical as well as on chemical one-electron reduction leads to the paramagnetic Cu(I) dimer (IIIa) with an anion radical ligand. This assignment is established by the ESR spectrum. (IIIb) and (IIIc) are analogously obtained. The reaction of the α-iminoketone(IV) with (II) yields the binuclear radical complex (V) as the only stable product.
