Abstract

The boranediyl-borirane which has a calculated non-classical structure (I) reacts with suitable reagents as if it were a carbene (II).

ChemInform Abstract

The boranediyl-borirane which has a calculated non-classical structure (I) reacts with suitable reagents as if it were a carbene (II). With the stannanediyl (III) the stannaethene (IV) is formed (space group P1 with Z=2). On melting at 133 °C, (IV) suffers partial decomposition to (III) and diborete (V), while with HCl the diboretane (VI) is formed.
